Norway’s Beach Cleanup Week 2024

On September 22, we joined forces in Vågsvåg for Norway’s Beach Cleanup, collecting litter and celebrating our shared commitment to a cleaner coastline.

On Sunday, September 22, we proudly joined hands with our local community to participate in Norway’s Beach Cleanup Week, hosting a shoreline cleanup in Vågsvåg. As a local business, we are committed to engaging in efforts that uplift our community and protect the natural environment we all hold dear. This event has blossomed into a cherished tradition, and it was inspiring to see so many people come together to make a positive impact.

With gloves and garbage bags in hand, participants of all ages—including children and adults—walked along the shore, collecting litter and plastic to help preserve the beauty of our coastline. The efforts of each individual, no matter how small, contributed to a larger cause: keeping our shared spaces clean and safe for future generations.

But the day was more than just picking up trash. It was a beautiful opportunity for connection, as participants shared stories, laughter, and a sense of collective purpose. This shared experience fostered a stronger sense of community and a deepened commitment to caring for the environment.

To wrap up our hard work, we gathered to enjoy hot dogs and coffee together, celebrating not only our achievements but also the camaraderie formed throughout the day. We’re incredibly grateful to the people of Vågsvåg for their participation and support, making this shoreline cleanup a meaningful success.

With this momentum, let’s inspire each other to continue making a difference. Here’s to many more community efforts to protect and cherish our beautiful coastal surroundings!

On a Clean-up mission

Beach clean-ups are one of the most important measures against marine litter, contributing both to taking care of nature and fauna.

Marine litter harms fish, seabirds and other animals, and is a major environmental problem. Our efforts in picking up litter on the coast make an important difference.

Beach clean-ups are one of the most important measures against marine litter, contributing both to taking care of nature and fauna,

Sjøbris Clean-up is a local initiative to make an effort on removing litter from our local beaches. We take part in national clean-up initiative and provide service for local companies, schools and organizations. We collaborate with local stakeholders, like Fjordane Friluftsråd and Naturvernforbundet Sogn og Fjordane. And we can help you plan and coordinate a successful execution of a clean-up operation:

  • Funding

  • Time and place, weather considering

  • Equipment

  • Activity

  • Waste management

  • Safety percations

Through an holistic concept we combine mindset, skills and activity in nature with the intention of creating deep, meaningful and lasting changes.

Activity in Nature

Creating conditions for deep integration and meaningful experiences through teambuilding, kayak, hiking, coasteering and yoga.

Careful Connection

Becoming aware of how the Self, the Moment and Nature work together as a whole

Mindful Movement

Physical exertion, the constantly changing nature and interaction with blue space engage the body and promote a sense of wellbeing

Mental Challenge

There’s the challenge of the unknown with each rocky outcropping that obscures the coastline. Strength is tested, heart pounding, adrenalin pumpin - Challenge accepted.

Vulnerable Landscapes, Cultural Heritage and Animal Welfare

Marine litter does not take into account protected areas, endangered species and natural diversity. Birds, animals, geology, vegetation, and landscape have inherent value, and must be treated with care and respect. Animals and birds are especially vulnerable during the nesting and breeding season in spring and summer.

Safety Procedures

We rely on Best practice for the clean-up of marine litter:

Beach Clean-up week is part of a national clean-up initiative, this year arranged from september 8th to 17th.

Other Keep Norway Beautiful campaigns: Spring Clean-up Day and City Clean-up Day.

The Coastal Lottery gives young and old an extra motivation to clean up the shoreline. They provide equipment, arrange for waste management, and by register you litter you can actually win a prize. “Kystplanken” is part of the costal lottery.
